Monogamy

This week's Booking Through Thursday question:

One book at a time? Or more than one? If more, are they different types/genres? Or similar?

(We’re talking recreational reading, here—books for work or school don’t really count since they’re not optional.)

I tend to be reading two books at any given time. Generally, there is the one that I am reading on the train each day, and the one that I read just before going to sleep.

They tend to be completely different genres so that there is no chance of getting the characters from one mixed up with the characters of another. More often that not, the bedtime one is a romance...cliched I know but what can I say.

Occasionally, I will also be listening to audio book in the car as well, but whereas I listened to loads of them when I drove to work, now that I catch the train I don't spend very long in the car most days, so I get to read more!

  4. I tend to do that too - read one on the train an one at home. Or two at home . . .

  5. Two - that's *close* to monogamous!

  6. I actually have a book mark in quite a few books at once!! But they never cross genres. I would be so confused!

  7. I never really tried reading two books at once because I don't like getting distracted, but gave me a great idea! I'd pick two totally different books and do as you do ^_^

    *goes over to the bookshelves*

    Happy BTT!

  8. I used to be able to read multiple books at once, but it just doesn't work as well for me any more. Of course, I also used to prefer anthologies, and now I prefer novels. I've never tried audiobooks... I have trouble concentrating on a voice with no visual anchor for it, so I don't think I'd really be able to do it.

  9. I can see how having one book for the train and a different one for bedtime could work. I focus on one book at a time. Happy BTT.

  10. If ever an option for me, I would go audiobooks. But I couldn't. I tend to read books one at times. But as I said at my blog, that not what happen lately :)

    Happy Thursday!

  13. I used to be a one book only sort of girl but here lately I've been reading two books at a time until one of them has me so engrossed I finish it first. I think it started with TBR anxiety...but then it could be anything.

  14. I just can't do it! I can only read one at a time. I have tried, but failed.
Looks like I am a monogamist! LOL

My 7 yr old daughter reads about three different books at once. It depends on her mood as to which one she will pick up each day. I find it really frustrating as I can't see how she can know all three at once, but if I ask her, she does!

Don't know how you people do it. I am in awe!
