My teaser this week is from page 249 of The Other Queen by Philippa Gregory. I am reading this latest book, even though I still haven't read The Boleyn Inheritance! One day I am sure I will get to this book.
He smiles at that and bows to me, a great sweep of a bow as if I were an empress, and then he dashes off, long-legged like a cold in a springing field. Such a sweet, sweet boy, he makes me think of my own son, little James, and the man that I hope he will be.
I so want to read this book. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat teaser.
I really want to read this one.
ReplyDeleteHere's mine!
I love Philippa Gregory's books! Haven't read this one yet - thanks for the teaser!
ReplyDeleteHere's my first teaser post:

After reading The Other Boleyn Girl earlier this year I've been meaning to read The Boleyn Inheritance. Actually--I'm not even sure what order her books should be read it--do you know where I can find this out (or better yet--can you tell me??). I've done some googling in the past but not with a lot of luck.
ReplyDeleteTrish, the books actually all stand alone because whilst they may feature some of the same characters, they are not really a connected, cohesive story if you get what I mean.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to read it in chronological order, then I think the order is:
The Constant Princess
The Other Boleyn Girl
The Queen's Fool
The Virgin's Lover
The Boleyn Inheritance
The Other Queen
I think that's right.
Great!! I knew that The Constant Princess would probably come first since it is Catherine of Aragon but I had assumed The Boleyn Inheritence came right after The Other Boleyn Girl. Glad to know.
ReplyDeleteI saw your blog on Blog of Note (congrats!) and I spent the morning reading your posts (when I should be working).
ReplyDeleteI opened Firefly Summer by Maeve Binchy and on pg. 492 I opened to:
"You know, hanging aroudn too long, hoping that when this is over - when that is over - the world will settle down as you you like it, as you design it."

Nice blog!
ReplyDeleteLove all of Phillipa Gregory's writings! Can't wait to get this one.
ReplyDeleteHere is my teaser from "World Without End" by Ken Follett. Sequel to "Pillars of The Earth"
"But she was still in terrible danger. Her heart was beating so loudly she felt as if everyone must be able to hear it. She turned quickly so that her back was to the knight. In the same movement, she stuffed the heavy purse down the front of her tunic. She could feel that it made a bulge that would be conspicuous, hanging over her belt like an old man’s belly."
Wonderfull Blog,
ReplyDeleteI love to read often now, found my love of books in my later years, In 2004 my son was in hospital for a 5 week stay as its was a long way from home i had to stay with him, I just picked up a book that was in the rest room and ever since this 1st book i now love to read, The book was Four blind mice by James Patterson,
I will add your link to my blog,
Thankyou
I'm wondering how people who are reading this like it in comparison to the others. I've enjoyed them all and can't wait to eat this one up too!
ReplyDeleteI'm a blogs of note referral too.
ReplyDeleteHere's my teaser from page 209 of The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd:
"I thought of that policeman, Eddie Hazelwurst, saying I'd lowered myself to be in this house of colored women, and for the very life of me I couldn't understand how it had turned out this way..."
I like your blog.

Yup, Nice blog
ReplyDeleteWow--what a great blog. I'm new to blogspot and still finding my way around. My teaser is from own novel, Scar Flowers, page 138:
ReplyDelete"A capering boar played pan pipes, its bristled body grotesquely human, its forked and double headed sex bouncing jauntily. An owl-headed woman with three legs gazed at the boar. In the center of her eye was a hole just large enough to peer through; on the other side of a hidden spring-cath door in the mural was Leah's bedroom, where she could use this spyhole to watch any gallery visitors."
Teaser from the Cry of the Icemark by Stuart Hill. Page 288.
ReplyDelete'Then, after a few minutes, all the werewolves stepped out of the traces and formed a tight protective ring about their human charges. Oskan gasped and seized Thirrin's hand. "There!" he said, pointing. "A lepoard; an enormous lepoard!"'
I'm not really sure what a teaser is, so please accept my apologies if I've got it wrong.
Glowmay, you got it exactly right.
ReplyDeleteMaureen, deadayo, rachete and darkman- thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!
Toshapeandtomold - I have been meaning to read that book for so long! One of these days I will. I really will!
Pickleberries, I finished this book last night and I have to say that I didn't enjoy it anywhere near as much as the earlier books in the Tudor series. It felt like the characters were all one-dimensional and that the author was having trouble deciding exactly who the main character was! I will try and write up my review shortly.
a b h, Pillars of the Earth is another book that I have been meaning to read forever! Thanks for stopping by.
Hi Tracey, I had a really long break from reading, but since I rediscovered my passion for it, I haven't stopped!
Hi Emily. Thanks for stopping by! I haven't read a Maeve Binchy book for years. I used to read them avidly. I must try and figure out which books I have read and which ones I haven't and read some more!
Enjoyed thank you... I'm being teased... I want to play now... Gotta get a book...
ReplyDeleteThanks for those who like my work and I can appreciate those who dont'
ReplyDeleteWana laugh. Just spent the last 2 hours trying to write the Consitution of The Unitted States so that I could sound good. Guess what, after 2 pages of run-ons, mispellings, gramatical erros , etc. I reset, erased, and this will be the last 12 words I will write.
richard price, 'the lush life':
ReplyDelete"Eric dutifully did as he was told and immediately drifted off into hypnagogic limbo. Yolanda and Matty looked at each other."
ok, not too compelling but you have to wonder what 'hypnagogic' means.
i really like this whole teasing idea. =] it reminds me of a book i read once, called "the first verse". it's quite the interesting read if you're up for it.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on blog of note! I'm a student librarian and I love your blog!
ReplyDeleteThis is from The Summer Garden, the third book in The Bronze Horseman trilogy by Paullina Simons:
"He turned her to him. She wouldn't look up. The dress was loose, falling down. She let it drop to the floor. She still wouldn't look at him. He cupped her face, lifting it to him, bent, and kissed her reluctant lips. Her hands came up to push him away, and didn't."
Just finished her Virgin Earth. It was very interesting -- history, both English and U.S. from a very personal point of view.
ReplyDeleteLimpingalong, that's one of PG's books that I haven't read.
ReplyDeleteCyndi, Paullina Simons is one of my very favourite authors. If you search for her name, you will find a couple of posts about where I met her this time last year!
Efah, I wish I could claim credit but I can't! It happens every Tuesday at Shouldbereading.
Alittleguitar, did you work out what that word means?
Darsden, I hope you do play along next week!

ReplyDeleteLOVE Phillipa Gregory Books! I've read all of them (I think) except for this one. However, due to being in the middle of getting my Master's Degree(In reading instruction, of course), I haven't had time to read and have been a little afraid to even step foot in a bookstore - which would be why I didn't know this one was out there!
ReplyDeleteIf I go in a bookstore I just have to buy a few books, and if I have book laying around that I haven't read well then I just have to read them. If I'm reading my wonderful books, I'm not finishing my homework so until I finish this, I'm trying to stay out of bookstores. I can't wait to pick it up and read it though!
I really enjoy Phillipa Gregory's books. I've only read 3 so far: The Other Boleyn Girl, The Constant Princess, and The Virgin's Lover. I plan on reading the rest of them too. I found your blog on blogs of note too and love it. Just added to my faves.
ReplyDeleteMy teaser is from page 74 of Fingerprints of the Gods by Graham Hancock.
Above and below the ears, on the side of the head, were carved odd representations of animals. Or perhaps it would be better to describe these carvings as representations of odd animals, because they looked like big, clumsy, prehistoric mammals with fat tails and club feet.
What a great idea for a blog!
ReplyDeleteHere's my teaser from "One Last Breath" by Stephen Booth p.253
"A faint crack could be heard behind the Proctors' house, then a slithering somewhere above their heads, like claws sliding down the tiles of the roof. With a small thump, a wood pigeon hit the guttering and flopped over the edge. It hung upside down for a moment, its head rolling drunkenly as if it were trying to see down into the house."
So glad I found your blog through the blogs of note!!!
ReplyDeleteI have loved all of the Phillipa Gregory novels in this series, but didn't realize that there was a new one! I will definatly be picking it up soon- and back to your blog often!
