For the second week in a row my teaser comes from an Elizabeth Peters book. Whereas last week's was from one of the Amelia Peabody books, this week's teaser comes from page 177 of Night Train to Memphis which is the fifth book in the Vicky Bliss series.
He was referring to Jane Austen, but none of the others caught the allusion, or its implications. Nasty old Aunt Norris in Mansfield Park always had a spare room because she never invited anyone to stay with her.
