It's funny how you hear something for the first time, and then again very soon afterwards!
Today, I was listening to a skit on the radio and one of the characters said something was "as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs".
Less than half an hour later, I was reading my book on the train, and there was the saying again! I swear I hadn't heard it before that, and now, twice in one day!
I've only heard that particular phrase once - in the movie The Secret of My Success - Michael J Fox's character says a merger made him as nervous as a long-tailed cat...
ReplyDeleteOdd, but this type of coincidence often seems to occur with my reading!
I have never heard that before, and I have to be honest - I don't get it! Why would a long tale cat be nervous in a room of rocking chairs. I don't have cats (I have rabbits, which usually get attacked by cats, my last rabbit was and she died :-( )so perhaps that explains why I don't quite get it?
ReplyDeleteI think it is because a cat likes to wander around your feet and so if you are rocking in the chair and it wanders off trailing its tale and the chair rocks onto it - ouch!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard that phrase before! How funny if you made it in two days. :D
ReplyDeleteI never heard that before, interesting, it does make sense in a way. ;)
