Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Eva and myself that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries!
This week Eva has the Mr Linky, and I have been busy topping up my library request list after having been very controlled with it over the last month or so.
Actually, I think I might have borrowed a bit more than I can read really given that I am already part way through three books that are all more than 600 pages, and then you look at just one of the books I have borrowed, and well, yes, we'll see how we get on shall we!
Here's what I borrowed this week, a lot of which is reloot:
Fire by Kristin Cashore - I read Graceling a couple of months ago now, and I am really looking forward to reading this one soon.
Upon the Midnight Clear by Sherrilyn Kenyon - It's been ages since I read a Dream Hunter/Dark Hunter book. It must be nearly time to read this one!
The Girl on Legare Street by Karen White - This is the second book in the Tradd Street series. I have written a review of the first book which will be posted over at Royal Reviews in the next couple of weeks.
The Queen's Pawn by Christy English - Eleanor of Aquitaine has long been one of my favourite historical figures, and so when I saw this book coming out, I knew that I wanted to read it.
Wedding Season by Katie Fforde - It's been more than 4 years since I last read a Katie Fforde. I have fond memories of the last books, so when I saw this book on the end of the aisle I decided on the spur of the moment to pick it up.
Heaven and Earth by Nora Roberts - I read the first book in this trilogy a couple of months ago, so now it is time to read the next one.
Angelique in Revolt by Sergeanne Golon - I really wish I had already read this, as the adventures of Angelique are just delicious normally!
The Crystal Cave by Mary Stewart - This is the first book in a series that was highly recommended by someone whose opinion I value a lot so I am reborrowing this one in the hope of actually being able to read it this time.
War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy - Not sure what I was thinking borrowing this from the library but we will see how we get on!
The Dead Travel Fast by Deanna Raybourn - I love Deanna Raybourn's series featuring Lady Julia Grey. This is a stand alone book featuring separate characters but I am expecting to enjoy it!
Like It Like That by Guy Sebastian - More Aussie music! Guy Sebastian was the first Australian Idol artist, and after having a couple of not so popular albums this one has seen a real resurgence for Guy! In LL tradition, here is a video of one of the singles from the album performed live.
Editted to add: Eva is having some time away from blogging this week, so I have added the Mr Linky to this post instead! Please leave your links so that we can all see what you got from your library this week!
I need to read those Angelique books one of these days. Mary Stewart's Merlin trilogy is very good. Dead Travel Fast is quick and easy, a nice beach book.
ReplyDeleteI think you would like the Angelique books. They are completely over the top, but oh so good.
ReplyDeleteI think I'll have to go on a sabbatical and refrain from visiting my library any more. I have a never ending pile of both library TBR and my own TBR!
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I'll definitely applaud you if you finish War and Peace before you have to return it! But with these sort of 'major' works, I like my own copy because they're such momentous reads.
And completely off the topic - I always felt sorry for Katie Fforde because she was always shelved next to Jasper until I realised they were cousins!

All of these books look awesome! Particularly The Queen's Pawn and Fire. I also have a copy of The Girl on Legare Street on my shelf that I won in a contest, but since I don't have the first in the series yet, I am going to have to wait to read it! Enjoy your books!
ReplyDeleteI want to read the Tradd Street series. I adore Charleston. I've heard good things about Graceling and the cover of Fire is gorgeous. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteOh wow. I really like that cover for Fire. It's really nice!
ReplyDeleteLove the cover of Fire! I'll be anxious to hear how you get along with War and Peace.
ReplyDeleteWar and Peace seems really ambitious! I only recently read Graceling, so I'd love to have my hands on a copy of Fire! (and wow, that cover!)
ReplyDeleteDon't know why you would say Guy Sebastian had a couple of not so popular albums prior to "Like It Like That". His last album was the double platinum "The Memphis Album" which was nominated for highest selling album at the 2008 ARIA Awards, coming in third. And two others were also nominated for highest selling album in previous years. In fact all 4 of his previous albums have been platinum or multi platinum sellers, with ten platinum accreditations between them. Hardly unpopular.
ReplyDeleteAt least not as much radio play, not on the stations I listen too anyway.
ReplyDeleteI love books about Eleanor of Aquitaine, so I'll be interested to hear what you think of The Queen's Pawn! Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteOh, wow! I read The House on Tradd Street, and loved it. Guess this one's going on the list.
ReplyDeleteCurrently, I'm reading another of this author's books—On Folly Beach.
War and Peace? Wow! That book was always so daunting to me. I look forward to seeing what you think!
ReplyDelete~Jessica
War & Peace? My, you are ambitious! I would love to hear your thoughts since I think the only way I would tackle this one is through CliffsNotes.
ReplyDeleteWow, War & Peace from the library! Good luck! :)
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of the Angelique books before.
ReplyDeleteI really like the name "Sergeanne"...it's like Russian and Southern all at the same time!
