TSS: Reading Series - Part III

For last week's Sunday Salon post I shared the series that I have either finished (as far as I know anyway) or where I am waiting for the next book in the series.

This week, it is the series that I have started reading, where there are books out that continue the series but I just haven't actually read them yet.

Before I do that though, there are two series that I read the next book of in the last week so they need to be added to the list of series that I am waiting for the next book. They are Beverly Swerling's City of Dreams series and also the Bride Quartet by Nora Roberts.

Oh boy. I think I need to get reading!

Do you try to keep track of the series that are you reading or is ignorance bliss?

  1. Great list, I have read several of those. I do like Lemony Snickett's sense of humour. Hollick's Pendragon series is brilliant and I adore the Tudor series by Philippa gregory. Your list is giving me ideas. Thanks and have fun reading. Happy Sunday.

  2. That is an impressive list of series! The thing I find about series is that the books are all a bit too much the same, and I get tired of reading similar plots. The Stephanie Plum books used to be a hoot, but then they got kind of stale for me. I guess I like characters to evolve and grow, but once a writer hits on a winning formula he or she tends to stick with it. Which is sensible, as long as books are selling!

  3. Wow, so many series! I do like to try to keep track of what series I read but whether I hunt down the next book depends entirely on how much I like it (eg. love: Morland Dynasty, like: The #1 Ladies Detective Agency, not interested: Twilight).

  4. When you see my list(s), you'll feel very good -- I'm a series freak too (as you know).

  5. Can't wait to see someone elses list so I don't feel so isolated here in series freakdom, Beth.

Sam, I have trouble in letting a series go if I read a dud entry, just in case the next book is good.

Violet, it does take an excellent author to keep my attention throughout a long series in particular. I might change how I read. For example, for the longest time I bought the Stephanie Plum books as soon as they came out. These days I only get them from the library because they are overpriced, with far too big print size and then charged full price.

Jennifer, I am reading the last Pendragon book at the moment.

  6. Wow, what a list! I've read some Debbie Macomber, but haven't yet read the Nora Roberts bride quartet. I read some other trilogies of hers, though.

I started the Stephanie Plum books at No. 11 and then hopped over to 15.

I like Sue Grafton's alphabet series.

    Here's my salon:

  8. Ignorance is bliss for me when it comes to how many series I'm currently reading. But I'm glad to see that I'm not the only series addict that reads a TON of series...because I'm pretty sure that if I counted I would be reading this many as well. Great post!

  9. Samantha, you should count, just so that we can compare. It is nice to find other people who share our addiction!

  13. Several of these look quite familiar. I do have a series page on my TBR spreadsheet (yes it's a spreadsheet - I'm that much of a dork). I like to know what the next book need in my active series is so that if I'm at the library or bookstore and get a whim I can get the right one.

And yes, the numbers of my series is overwhelming and I never added up the ones I've finished or abandoned.
