Smashed.....
Sigh....
I guess it has been more than 2 years since it last happened, but I still feel like this stuff (car break ins, house break ins) happens to me more than it does to other people and I don't know why. Last night I got back to the car park at the train station my car had been broken into.
They had tried to steal the car too, but in the end they gave up but not before they damaged the casing underneath where the key goes.
One of the reasons that they didn't steal the car is that it is a bit temperamental to start at the moment. I was just waiting for my mechanic to get back from holidays before I got him to have a look at why the key won't even turn in the ignition some times.
So now I have to figure out what to do today. If I take it to get the window fixed today the tradesman probably won't be able to get it started, but if I wait to get the problem fixed before I get the window fixed, that will mean that I won't have a car for a few days at least.
Either way, it's going to cost lots of dollars for me in the very near future.

Oh curses, what rotten luck! So sorry to hear! Hope you get things sorted out quickly. And yes, it does seem these sort of things happen to you more than, well, me... :(
ReplyDeleteMalvina
Your car seems to have picked a good time for choosing to be temperamental! I hope the universe makes up to you in some really good way for the pain and unpleasantness a thing like this must cause, though.
ReplyDeleteThanks Danielle.
ReplyDeleteMalvina, I forgot to mention that my oven broke the other day as well.
Not good news. =( I'm sorry to hear this and I hope something good comes your way soon to make up for it!
ReplyDeleteOh girl - this sucks so bad! I had my car broken into many moons ago and that sense of violation is the pits.
ReplyDeleteBummer Marg, although I guess it is best he couldn't run off with the car. I just hope things don't come in threes and fours like they have with me (had to buy a whole almost new car).
ReplyDeleteOh dear. It's definitely happened more to you than me 'cos it's never happened to me. I am lucky these days though that I live within walking distance of public transport so my car can stay tucked up in its garage while I am toiling all day. Hope your appliances start to behave soon Marg.
ReplyDeleteThat is horrible. I'm sorry you have to deal with this! Hope it gets taken care of quickly and at the lowest cost possible. Ugh. Just what you want to spend money on right. NOT!
ReplyDeleteSo very sorry this happened (again!) and that you have to deal with this AND the oven. Ugh. When I was little, our car was stolen from right in front of our house. I've never forgotten that feeling and I doubt I ever will.
ReplyDelete*HUGS*
ReplyDeleteThat really sucks...I'm so sorry, Marg. You always feel violated after something like this happens. I hope everything gets sorted out with your car soon.
ReplyDeleteMy commiserations.
ReplyDelete*hugs* I'm so sorry.
ReplyDeleteMarg I am sorry someone did this to you. Our truck window got busted a couple years ago and we were out of pocket about $250. Bad thing is they didnt seal the window correctly and now the drivers door won't close unless the other door is open.
ReplyDeleteOh no! Marg, I am so sorry to hear that this happened to you, and even sorrier still that this wasn't the first time! I hope that things get repaired soon, and that it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg. I hate people who do this kind of stuff, and often rant to whoever will listen about it.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about this Marg. I hope everything gets sorted out soon...
ReplyDeleteOh no Marg :( I'm so sorry to hear about this :( I'm glad they didn't get your car though. Hope things turn out the best possible.
ReplyDeleteHoly cow - that is just awful - I'm guessing the police haven't decided to up 'patrols' in the area? We have a section of town that is all big box stores and people's cars were being broken into nightly (a movie theater is there also). Now the police do drive-ins and have posted a sign that says they have a 'bait' car.
ReplyDeleteAnother option maybe is talking to the people who own the train station and tell them they need to up security. I would also threaten to have them pay the bill for the car.
But then I get grumpy that way ;)
CindyS
Cindy, they say there is CCTV but I have no idea if it works or not.
ReplyDeleteKathy, that's a pain that there has been a residual effect.
Misfit, I think I am already up to three this year, so hopefully that will be it now.
Thanks everyone. It was a pain, but I think I am over it now. Just have to get the rest of the repairs done.
Oh no. And right after the holidays. It doesn't seem right. I hope they catch the jerk. But glad no one was hurt and the car was not stolen.
ReplyDeleteThat's awful. Must be something about train stations- even though I park in security parking, someone hit my car this week (no note).
ReplyDeleteI hope they catch the person and they end up with awful karma!
Ugh - someone smashed in the window in my husbands car a few months ago and it cost a fortune to fix. I did find out that you can get a seperate policy with NRMA that covers car window breakages though - if it happens that often you might want to look in to it
ReplyDeleteA pox on the vandals!
