I find the early 1900s to be such an interesting setting because so much was changing. In this book alone there has been talk about the suffragettes and the preposterous idea of having a telephone in the house amongst other things that today seem completely common place to us.
The teaser comes from page 31:
It's just like a fairy story, she thought. The Transformation Scene, from rags to spangles, Cinderella goes to the ball after all - except that Cinderella hadn't seemed to have any doubt that she would be able to handle the protocol of a full-dress Court function.
Teaser Tuesday is hosted by Miz B at Should Be Reading. Head on over to find out all about it, and how to join in!
Lol! Great teaser.
ReplyDeleteMy teaser is from Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris.

ReplyDeleteHere's MY TT POST
Oh, I love this teaser. I feel like I'm pretty socially awkward and this would be my line at some point. ;O)
ReplyDeleteHey, thanks for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteIt is a ghost story and I'm pretty sure the poor girl is haunted but she can't see it so neither can I...
Your teaser sounds interesting, too :)

Cinderella... how many of us little girls have always dreams of being Cinderlla :)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds really interesting. I know most girls dreamed of being Cinderella... but I'm a bit odd. That just seemed too hard -- the princess stuff - I wanted to travel with Odysseus. Of course, I reminded myself frequently that there weren't bathrooms.. UGH! The problems with past ages!
ReplyDeleteMy teaser this week is from ‘Crossing Oceans’ by Gina Holmes.
Sounds really great, might have to check this one out!
ReplyDeleteYou commented on my post, asking who the author was (forgot to add it xD)
It's Two Moon Princess by Carmen Ferreiro-Esteban :)
Thanks for stopping by my blog, this sounds right up my street. Your comment about the telephone in the house reminds me of Downton Abbey when they had lights installed and Maggie Smith was shielding her eyes from the garish light! ;-)
ReplyDeleteYeah, getting the court behavior right could be a bit of a problem. Good teaser. Mine: A Courtesan's Guide to Getting Your Man
ReplyDeleteSuper loves that teaser! Beautiful!

Hi Marg,
ReplyDeleteSome great teaser lines, that got me thinking about the author.
I knew I hadn't read this particular series, but remember reading something by her a few years ago.
On checking her out, it isn't really a surprise that I can't remember which book it was, I hadn't realised that she was such a prolific author.
I don't know where she gets all the different stroyline ideas from!!!

The teaser is great, but not what you'd expect based on the cover.

Great teaser!
ReplyDeleteGood teaser. When you mentioned the telephone I had to laugh. I watched the first of the Downton Abbey series on TV last night and they were discussing the dangers of electricity. The mother refused to have electricity in the dower house because it was too dangerous!
ReplyDeleteA great teaser!
ReplyDeleteThank-you kindly for stopping by my blog :)
LOL! I never thought of that. Great teaser. Kaye—the road goes ever ever on
