Library Loot: June 15 to 21

Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and Marg from The Adventures of an Intrepid Reader that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries!

I had a bit of a shock this week. I actually went and got books off the shelf myself. Not that I had to, but I had requested the books, I knew they were checked in but the librarians hadn't yet put them on the hold shelf so I went and got them myself. I even ventured into the non fiction section!

Here's my new loot:

Immovable Feast: A Paris Christmas by John Baxter -  I was listening to a podcast the other day and they mentioned this author's latest book, but my library doesn't have that one yet, so I thought I would try his writing with this book.

Suite Scarlett by Maureen Johnson - I just read 13 Little Blue Envelopes, and I was hoping to get the follow up book, but the library doesn't have it yet so I picked up this one instead.

Big Stone Gap by Adriana Trigiani - I haven't actually read this author before, but I am pretty sure that she is my kind of author so I have high hopes for this one.

Reloot:

  2. Oh, I LOVED Big Stone Gap and hope that you do as well! There are two others in the series that are quite good as well. I have lately been checking out some graphic novels from the library after having not used it in several years, and it's sort of stressing me out! How do you make the time for library books, knowing that they have to be back so soon?

  5. Oh hey! I have Suite Scarlett in my loot this week, too!!!! Linda and I had a cross loot recently, too. What are the odds??

I also still have Zombies vs. Unicorns borrowed from the library. I was so anxious to get it... and now all of a sudden I'm just not that into it.

    Enjoy your loot, Marg! :)

  6. I really enjoyed 13 Little Blue Envelopes but the sequel didn't live up to the first, IMO. I didn't really like Suite Scarlett that well either. I dunno what my deal is. But Johnson hasn't impressed me all that much!

  13. Suite Scarlett is such a fun read, and I loved the sequel, too! When I was in New York last month, I wished I had a place to stay like Scarlett's hotel. Johnson is such a fun writer!

  14. I really want to read Big Stone Gap. There are others in that series too. I'm reading her novel Very Valentine and it's quite good. You got a lot of good stuff. Every time I go into the library I leave with this huge pile and then I usually don't manage to get to them anyway. lol.

  16. I got to actually go to the library and browse the shelves for myself this week for the first time in weeks and weeks. Our library hours are so limited its hard for my husband and I to coordinate schedules for him to drive me so he usually just shuffles the books and movies back and forth for me and I do my browsing in the online catalog.

The only author from your list I've read is Charlene Harris and I've only read the first in the series. I read it after I checked out and watched the first season of True Blood and for me this was one of the rare cases in which the screen adaptation was better than the novel. I might have gone ahead reading the series though if our library had had the second in the series. I should check on that again as they might have replaced it since I last looked over a year ago.
