Top Ten Tuesday: Books I've Loved But Haven't Reviewed

Welcome to this week's edition of Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is Books I Loved but Never Reviewed.

Once upon a time I used to review everything, and then I had a few years where I didn't  review anything, and now I am reviewing some things. What this  basically means is that this week's topic is easy to find books for. I just have to refer to my handy-dandy spreadsheet and look for 5 star reads and there's my list. I am, however, a bit stingy with 5/5 gradings so this is a mix of 4.5 and 5 star reads

The Flat Share by Beth O'Leary - I read and loved this last year. From memory, I read it while on a plane going....somewhere and it was a perfect plane book!

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman - I listened to this on audio and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The Peacock Summer by Hannah Richell - This was another audio book that I thoroughly enjoyed. This was also my first Hannah Richell book. I am waiting for this year's book to come into the library so I can enjoy that, unless I end up listening to it first of course.

In Falling Snow by Mary-Ann McColl - I had forgotten about this book until I saw it's name on the list. This is a WWI novel about a young woman who finds herself working in a hospital in France. It is a dual timeline where Iris is looking back at her life.

The Piper's Son by Melina Marchetta - In a way it is a bit of a travesty that I have never reviewed this book. I mean, I have listened to it four times now and rated it as a 5/5 read three of those four times. This is 100% a comfort listen.

Something to Talk About by Rachael Johns - This is the sequel to Talk of the Town, which I also read this year. Rachael Johns is one of the authors who I still read when I wasn't really reading.

The Island of Sea Women by Lisa See - I have read many Lisa See books over the years, usually featuring Chinese characters. This time, the book is about the divers of the Korean island and Jeju and it was totally fascinating.

The Gilded Hour by Sara Donati - I have been a fan of Sara Donati's writing for years. This book skips forward a couple of generations from where the Into the Wilderness series finished and features two lady doctors in 1880s New York. I really must read the next book.

The Lost Man by Jane Harper - I have enjoyed all the books by Jane Harper, and I am really looking forward to her new book which is out next month!

The Quarantine Station by Michelle Montebello - This was another enjoyable read. This book is another dual timeline, this time with the historic section being on the quarantine station in Sydney in 1918.

Have you read any of these books?

  1. The Island of the Sea Women has been on my radar for a while now. I really should do something about reading it. On the other hand, I've read The Lost Man and loved it. Jane Harper came to the Phoenix metro area to promote this book, and you'd better believe I was right in the front row!

    1. I saw her speak just before Lost Man came out Cathy. I will need to see what online publicity there is in the lead up to the new book.

  3. I read The Island of the Sea Women in June of 2019, but it wasn't a favorite. Maybe the timing wasn't right for me.

  4. Ack! I keep forgetting to get a copy of The Lost Man! I read the other two by Harper, but never did read her latest. Since I depend on the library for most mystery/thrillers, I don't have a copy of the book to remind me that I want to read it. Time to put in a request!

I loved Eleanor Oliphant and listened to it on audio, as well. I can still envision so many scenes from the book. It's definitely on my favorites' list.

  6. Eleanor Oliphant is one of my favorite books. Sometimes I just can't seem to make myself write a review about a book that I love. I wonder now if it is that I am afraid that my review won't live up to the book itself. Here is my TTT list

    1. It sometimes is just as hard to write a review of a book you love as it is to write a meh review Anne.

    1. She started out as a YA writer, but she is definitely still worth reading. And with these connected books the maturity of the book grows with the characters.
