This week.....

I'm reading

At the end of last week I found myself between books, and facing a dilemna. Do I read my next review book so that I am still a bit ahead lor do I read something for fun. I dillied and dallied a bit until I received an email from the library announcing that they are about to restart their delivery service which is great, apart from the fact that I haven't read any of the other books that I already have out. That meant that my decision was then narrowed down to reading one of those.

I chose to read The Heirloom Garden by Viola Shipman, which I have to say, I am loving. It's even almost making me wish that I was a gardener. Not enough to make me actually want to be a gardener, but almost!

I'm watching

Last week we finished season 1 of Schitts Creek and then promptly started season 2. At this stage, I can't see us slowing down on this TV show which means we will be busy for the next couple of months.

My Friday night consisted of watching Enola Holmes which was a lot of fun! Very enjoyable! The movie, a couple of episodes of Schitts, whilst sipping a Bailey's. Can't get much better than that really.

Junior Masterchef started this week. I am always torn when watching this show. The things those kids can make are amazing, and for a lot of them they are making things that I still don't know how to make and probably will never be able to make! So itis a mixture of awe and feelings of inadequacy lol.

Life...

I missed last week because things are crazy nuts busy at work. I really hope it calms down soon, but it is going to be a couple of months of craziness at least.

Speaking of work, we got an email this week which basically told us that we aren't going to be going back into the office full time any time soon, if ever. This has prompted us to think about what we are going to do about office space, so it looks like our next renovation project is going to be the spare room/office. There's the start of a plan with the idea that we will make it easily convertable from guest room to office and vice versa.

This weekend we started another puzzle. Really, I help with the edges and then the husband can't stay away so he does the rest but this time he is saving one particular part of the puzzle for me to do. Guess I better get onto that then.

  1. The Heirloom Garden sounds nice. I used to do lots of gardening when we owned a home with large yard but, as retirees in a condo now, it's container gardening which is just fine now.

  3. I always feel the pressure to get that arc read, even if there is plenty of time to read it. I'm trying to include more reading for pleasure books on my schedule now, I felt really burnt out earlier in the year.
I used to love doing jigsaw puzzles but I haven't done one in years - not since my children were little and the pieces were just too dangerous to have around. It's something I'd love to start doing again.

    Happy reading!

  4. I have Enola Hughes in my queue...so I should check it out! Thanks for the mention.

It is hard to pick the next read for me these days...I'm caught up on review books until December. But...that does not make the task of choosing easier.

Enjoy your books and your week, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  5. I enjoyed Enola Holmes too. I’m currently binging Blue Heelers.
A dedicated office space sounds like a good idea, especially if it’s going to be a long term thing.

Wishing you a great reading week

    1. There is a difference between being behind on reading the books and being behind on writing the reviews! I am definitely behind on those Sherry!

  7. I love the look of The Heirloom Garden. Will see if my library has it. I do the same, by the way, when I have a bit of time in between review books, I choose a book from my own shelves depending on my mood.

I loved Enola Holmes. Such a fun movie! I'll have to look into Schitts Creek. I haven't done a puzzle in years, although I used to do them all the time before the kids were born.

  8. Glad to hear you won't have to go back to work soon (assuming that's good news- i know some people prefer to be in the office but I've heard a lot of places doing that- really pushing back return dates. And I'm hearing a lot of good things about that Netflix show!

Take care and be well this week!

  9. Are you happy that you aren't going back to the office any time soon? I know I would be but we're all different.

We enjoyed Enola Holmes quite a bit too. We watched one episode of Schitt's Creek years ago and the entitled characters irritated us so much we didn't continue. Should we give it a few more tries?

    Enjoy your week!

  10. I've read the Enola Holmes books and really enjoyed them but don't subscribe to the correct channel to see the movie. Maybe I'll buy the DVD when it becomes available. I think a lot of people are in the same situation as your are when it comes to work. I can see the advantages for many companies who can work remotely to do so. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  11. I love puzzles but since I took up quilting the puzzle urge has been less as quilting is putting little bits together! I loved The Heirloom Garden and yes weren't the flowers amazing. I've heard people aren't going back to the office in your country. Ours are pretty much back at the moment.

  12. Doing jigsaw puzzles sounds so good. I wish I had time to do that, while listening to audio books, for instance. Alas, when I listen to audiobooks, I do house chores, lol!

  13. I didn't love working from home, but I don't really like going into work either! I would love to retire and, like you, would have no trouble filling my free time! Schitts Creek is probably going to be the next series my husband and I will try. Right now we're watching iZombie and Riverdale, with As Time Goes By when we want something lighter and more cheerful.

  14. I love that moment when I finish a book and I get to peruse my shelves and pick out my next book to read. I no longer accept books for review, so I'm under no pressure to read anything other than my monthly book club selection. We'll have to try Schitts Creek, as we've heard good things about it from several people. The puzzle we've been working on has been quite a challenge. I think we've been at it for almost a month! I'll share a photo when we finish. It's from a great company called Pomegranate. Great quality puzzles!
