Weekend Cooking: A fruit trifle in music

Yesterday I posted about a new feature where I am going share songs and artists that I love over the coming six months! Today, I thought I would play around with that concept a bit, and throw together a trifle of songs. We'll start with fruit inspired songs, then add some cake, and voila! A kind of fruit trifle! I could have added Cream by Prince too, or Sunshine of My Love by Cream.

It is interesting how many songs and artists there are who sing about food, or have song titles, or are named after food. We could have Spice Girls, or Meatloaf, silly songs or songs reminiscing about the tastes of home like Chicken Fried by Zac Brown. The possibilities are endless!

Anyway, let's get started with our trifle shall we.

Lets start with Strawberry Fields Forever by the Beatles

And we'll move onto Raspberry Beret by Prince.

While, this song is called Black Lace by Agadoo, there's no doubt that it is a song about pineapple!

Let's head into the country and eat some Peaches, by The Presidents of the United States of America.

How about some funky music with Wild Cherry

And finally Cake, in this case Cake by the Ocean by DNCE

  2. Funny coincidence: a couple of weeks ago I did a post on food in songs and my first two selections were exactly the same as yours: Strawberry Fields and Raspberry Beret! (Link: https://maefood.blogspot.com/2021/04/songs-of-food-and-drink.html )

Have a great week... mae at maefood.blogspot.com

    1. That is a coincidence! I did something similar years ago but at that time you couldn't find Prince's music so I wasn't able to include the video. I was relieved I could this time.

  6. Love the fruit trifle! Which reminds me, I have made one...with spring about to burst here (we still have snow in the mountains) a trifle might be needed!

  9. Finally! A low-calorie trifle! ;)
I love the song Cake by the Ocean, but haven't delved too deeply into the double-entendres in the lyrics because then I might be too embarrassed to sing along.
