Welcome to this week's edition of Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week the theme is best books of 2021. So let's start with my five star reads of the year.
The Rose Code by Kate Quinn (review)
The Warsaw Orphan by Kelly Rimmer
The Dressmakers of Yarrandarah Prison by Meredith Jaffe (review)
The Cartographer's Secret by Tea Cooper
I had 10 books that I graded as being 4.5 star reads. When I looked at those book these were the 6 that were closest to being graded up to a 5 star read.
Bila Yarrudhanggalangdhuray by Anita Heiss (review)
Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe by Heather Webber (review)
Midnight in the Snow by Karen Swan
The Clover Girls by Viola Shipman
The Space Between Worlds by Micaiah Johnson
Battle Royal by Lucy Parker
Have you read any of these books??
I've read 2, both of which were 4.5-star reads for me. Battle Royal made it onto my Honourable Mentions and Midnight in the Snow would've if I hadn't written my post before I finished it, lol.
ReplyDeleteOf your list, I also have Anita Heiss' on my TBR and Tea Cooper's and also Kelly Rimmer's!
The Kelly Rimmer probably my pick Bree!
DeleteThe Rose Code is on my shelf at the moment waiting to be read - thanks for reminding me about it!
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a great Christmas and this is my look back at the best and most fun books I have read in 2021.
It's so good Michael.
DeleteThe Rose Code was an amazing read, but didn't make my top 10 cut. I'm hoping to read more of Quinn's books next year. Happy reading! My TTT https://readwithstefani.com/the-best-10-books-i-read-in-2021/
ReplyDeleteDefinitely interested to see what your top 10 books were Stefani
DeleteThe Rose Code and Battle Royal are both on my TBR. Hopefully, I can get to them in 2022.
ReplyDeleteYou are in for a treat if you do Pam!
DeleteNice selection of books. I have not read any of them but have seen several around. https://cindysbookcorner.blogspot.com/2021/12/top-ten-tuesday-cover-love.html
ReplyDeleteThanks Cindy!
DeleteI've seen The Rose Code on a lot of lists today.
ReplyDeleteFor good reason Deb!
DeleteThe Rose Code is one of my top ten too. I loved it! I haven't read any of the others on your list, but they all look interesting.
ReplyDeleteI am really looking forward to Kate Quinn's next book!
DeleteI've heard very good things about Battle Royal. Just that something about that (cartoony?) cover makes me wary. Still, I do want to take this up in Jan, and your rec just reminded me of that. ~Lex (lexlingua.co)
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of cartoony romance covers out there these days Lex!
DeleteThese could all win best cover awards too. I really liked The Rose Code as well. I look forward to reading more by Quinn as that was my first by her. All of your other books sound good, some are already on my TBR pile or wish list. Looks like I have many books to look forward to. :-) I hope you have a great reading year in 2022!
ReplyDeleteThere's so many great books out there!
DeleteI need to read Battle Royal! Everyone is singing its praises today.
ReplyDeleteI am really looking forward to reading the follow up book Deanna!
DeleteBattle Royal was adorable! I cannot wait for the next book.

Its such a good book!
DeleteSomehow, I have not read any of these. I've heard so many good things about THE ROSE CODE that I really, really need to pick it up already. Hopefully, I can get to it in 2022.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
I hope you get to read it Susan!
DeleteI added Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe to my TBR earlier this year -- I have high hopes, so I'm glad to see it made your list!
ReplyDeleteI think it was the right book at the right time for me RS. Hope you enjoy it!
DeleteI liked The Space Between Worlds https://necromancyneverpays.wordpress.com/2021/08/22/the-space-between-worlds/
ReplyDeleteIt came highly recommended to me and for good reason Jeanne!
DeleteThe Rose Code sounds nice, and can I just say I love that cover for Blackbird Cafe? Those food covers always get me :)
ReplyDeleteMe too Greg! It just looks so tempting doesn't it!
DeleteAll the best for the New Year, Marg... maybe we can catch up at last in 2022!
ReplyDeleteLet's make it a plan rather than a hope shall we Lisa!
DeleteI did enjoy Battle Royal but it didn't make my top 13. Coincidentally, I read books by Viola Shipman and Karen Swan this month but not the ones you read. I lent my sister my copy of The Rose Code and just got it back so will be looking forward to that soon. These others look good too!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for hosting the Historical Reading Challenge this year. It has given me a lot of pleasure - and many suggestions for my TBR! Here are my Favorite Reads of 2021:
