Normally on the first Saturday of the month, I would share what I have baked but this month I literally only made one thing, and I didn't even take a photo, which was the Creamy Ginger Nut Cheesecake that I have made a couple of times recently. Tbe other thing we rediscovered the chocolate fountain which has been languishing in the cupboard for a few years now. It was a big hit as dessert for our family Christmas dinner and then again as dessert on New Years Eve.
Instead, I am going to share some new food and drink related items that I received as Christmas gifts, hence the tower which is supposed to be representative of a Christmas tree.
Starting at the bottom, there is a new food processor. I have had my current one for about 20 years. The bowl is cracked, the handle is completely gone so it was time for a new one. Thankfully my son took the not too subtle hint and delivered.
The book is called Gastra Obscura - random facts about food and travel -expect to hear more about this book.
Next is a Sodastream. I didn't know I wanted a Sodastream until we were doing Naughty Santa and the one I had was stolen as part of the game. Now I am going to get a chance to experiment with different flavours which should be fun.
Next is a trifle bowl. My husband is nothing but obedient. I gave him a list of things that I would like and I got all but one of them as gifts. I really wanted a straight sided glass trifle bowl. Now to make trifle.
The final thing was a surprise and is a thing to hold your piping bags when you are using them. Now I just need to make sure that I make something that I need to do icing on so I can use them.
Do you have any gadgets in your house?
Monday - Chicken enchiladas
Tuesday - Fish and chips at the beach
Wednesday - Ham sandwich
Thursday - Butter Chicken kebabs with baked potato and salad

Weekend Cooking is open to anyone who has any kind of food-related post to share: Book reviews (novel, nonfiction), cookbook reviews, movie reviews, recipes, random thoughts, gadgets, quotations, photographs, restaurant reviews, travel information, or fun food facts. If your post is even vaguely foodie, feel free to grab the button and link up anytime over the weekend. You do not have to post on the weekend. I have always wanted a Kitchen Aid mixer so when they were on sale before Christmas I bought one for myself. I hope to use it this weekend for the first time. I did ask for a popover pan for Christmas and have made them once but did not get the pan hot enough and they were not as hollow as supposed to be.
ReplyDeleteButter Chicken Kebabs sound really good! I guess that means it is dinner time - I'd better go look for inspiration.
A proper Kitchen Aid is on my list. I will probably get one when we move house, maybe as my housewarming present to myself.
DeleteLooks like you got some fun cooking gadgets. Enjoy! I bought a trifle bowl last year and only used it once. I need to pull it out again.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Marg!
It's one of those things you have to have Susan, but don't use very often.
DeleteNo new gadgets, but I do hold trifle in reserve for when there is a fallen or crumbled cake to be used. Very useful. Happy New Years!
ReplyDeletePerfect use for that cake that doesn't quite work for whatever reason Claudia
DeleteMy dad bought my mum a new trifle bowl for Christmas too because he loves trifle :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your gifts!

ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you too Melynda!
DeleteI got a new popcorn popper! I had been using an air popper instead of replacing my regular popcorn popper, but I think the kids like having oil-popped popcorn when they visit! haha
ReplyDeleteThat's something I have never had Laurie, but I am not always keen on popcorn. Definitely a mood thing for me
