Welcome to this month's edition of Six Degrees of Separation, which is a monthly meme hosted by Kate from Books Are My Favourite and Best. The idea is to start with a specific book and make a series of links from one book to the next using whatever link you can find and see where you end up after six links. I am also linking this post up with The Sunday Salon, hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.
This month we are starting with The Naked Chef by Jamie Oliver, which is a different place to start. I am very interested to see how people make their chains this month. I've decided to stay within the cookbook world for my chain.
I have a few Jamie Oliver cook books so I thought I would start with one of those - Jamie Oliver's Great Britain
When I lived in the UK one of the great TV cooks was Delia Smith, so I am choosing her Complete Illustrated Cookery Course. This was one of the few cookbooks I bought back to Australia with me when I returned in 1999. The rest of the cookbooks that I had acquired were left behind.
Another author whose books I did bring back from the UK was Ainsley Harriott, so my next book is his Barbecue Bible.
Josh Niland's book was a choice for Jamie Oliver's Cookbook Club, as was my final choice, In Bibi's Kitchen by Hawa Hassan and Julie Turshen
Next month the starting point is The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey.
What a fun concept but I don't know if I would have gotten very far. :)
ReplyDeleteThis was more challenging than normal when I use fiction books Debra!
DeleteI watched a Jamie Oliver show on TV several years ago and it really stayed with me. So many people don't know how to cook or how to follow a recipe. It blew my mind.

Luckily it is a skill that can be learned if there is the desire to do so!
DeleteI don't read cookbooks; I barely cook. It's something I have absolutely no interest in so I do the basics....enough to feed my husband and me. :) I appreciate the cool cookbook angle, but I can't relate. ha!

My confession is that my husband does most of the cooking! I do love cookbooks though
DeleteThis is the first chain I have seen that stuck with cookbooks. I use cookbooks so little now that did not even occur to me, but I do have one favorite cookbook that I will hold onto forever, and we do have others just in case.
ReplyDeleteI get most of my recipes from either online or supermarket freebie magazines. I do still like looking through a cookbook though. I did expect to see someone else do this but it was tougher than normal I have to say.
DeleteFun lists. But now I'm hungry, and it's time to go to bed.
ReplyDeleteStill time for a midnight snack Mark?
DeleteYou did well with your chain Marg …. I’m impressed you could keep the links going AND end up with a nod back to Jamie at the end.
ReplyDeleteIt was a bit tougher than I expected but I got there at the end! And yes, almost a completed circle!
DeleteI'm glad you've stuck with cookery books - and your last three aren't known to me. I've got some catching up to do!
ReplyDeleteInteresting book list! The connections seem workable.

I enjoy exploring cookbooks and new recipes. So great to see a chain made up of these!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great chain. I get most of the recipes I use online so would have struggled to make a whole chain of books like these!
ReplyDeleteWell, I kind of went the food route, but you went the whole-hog cookbook route! Brava. I know all of these chefs, except for the last two - I love watching cooking shows (and our TV just got the latest Great Australian Bake Off, which I'm watching faithfully)!
ReplyDeleteGreat list. The problem with these making all your readers hungry, lol
ReplyDeleteI do like cookery books, but usually end up using just 2-3 recipes from each.
ReplyDeleteThis is a cute idea! I'm not sure where I would have gone from the first book, but you did great with it.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, look how young Jamie Oliver looks in Naked Chef! I'd forgotten about that cookbook. I have several of his though.
ReplyDeleteI have seen this done, but never tried to do it. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThis month is definitely one for the cookbooks! Loved all your cookbooks Marg. Now we have an even better idea of why you always share such great recipes!

This may have been my favorite of your Six Degrees of Separation post. I like how you made your way through cookbooks. You have shared cookbooks I have never seen. Thank you, Marg!
ReplyDeleteFor whatever reason I am having trouble signing in on your page. Such a fun post! https://cindysbookcorner.blogspot.com/2022/12/stacking-shelves-50-sunday-post-47.html
